This is a brief video capture from Cartoonium.com, an interactive flash web experiment I created back in 2001. This “Mutant TV From The Future” began as a challenge to create a quickly and easily accessible, visually unique world within which to house my growing world of animated characters, games and stories, at a time when internet access and data bandwidth were huge obstacles. The site design, concepts, characters, stories, games, flow and user interaction models are mine, but I partnered with a pair of flash developers for the programming and animation. The collaboration resulted in this quirky mix of interface, story and interactivity that in many ways presaged the advent of today’s ubiquitous branded entertainment and content delivery apps, six years before the first iPhone’s release.
