FANCY Official Selection of the Miami Short Film Fest!

Miami Beach At NightBreaking news!  Looks like FANCY gets an extended stay in Florida this fall, having just been officially selected to play as part of the Miami Short Film Festival November 13th -20th!  This is one of a very select list of heavily pro-filmmaker events that are also a blast to attend, run by William Vela, who is a great guy, and it’s in MIAMI, which is one of my favorite cities, so I can’t speak highly enough about it!  It appears that FANCY will be playing on Tuesday night, November 16th, at 6:45 PM as part of the “Bust A Move” program, and if you have the chance I ‘d love to see you come out to support the film.  So stay tuned for more info, and feel free to visit the  MSFF website below for the latest news:

Project Gallery – FANCY

I’ve never maintained a very “purist” view of photography.  Yes, I can often be found with a 35mm still camera in hand, but my personal fascination has always been in the capture of “motion-over time-with design.” As such, I’ve moved fluidly between cinema and still cameras for over 20 years, using motion picture cameras very early on to capture strings of images at up to 60 frames per second, then taking the resulting hundreds of feet of film first into the lab, next into the editing suite, and finally into the darkroom, to print down into amazing still images, born of motion.  Today, with Digital Motion Picture Cameras like the RED, I am able to work even faster, and with greater flexibility.  For today’s Tuesday Gallery, I’ve extracted a series of stills from my latest film “FANCY”, shot with the RED digital cinema camera, delivering them in the same manner as “the good old days”, only without all the darkroom mess. Enjoy!

“FANCY” Trailer Goes Live!

Holy cow-September is just around the corner!  While I’ll be working on adding to the site as much as I can, next month is going to be a busy one, which you may have noticed from the newly added “Upcoming Events” sidebar!   Starting Labor Day weekend,  “Fancy” goes back on the road, first heading west to Seattle, then continuing over to Colorado for a short stay… and I promise details will be posted later this week.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with my latest “tale of romance told entirely through dance”, I hope to post  a more detailed write up on the film really soon.  But until I do, you can always check out the production info in the “FANCY”  link at the top of the page, or better yet, view the OFFICIAL “FANCY” TEASER TRAILER which is finally available online!  Yes, it’s just a quick  taste of the film, but hopefully it’ll tide you over until you get a chance to see it live and on the big screen.  Enjoy!
